We are all very fortunate in this country to have access to good health care paid for by the Ministry of Health through our taxes. As our population ages, the cost of healthcare continues to rise, and as a result, there are more and more services that are not covered by the Ministry. They require significant time and resources to administer. The demand for these uninsured services has increased exponentially in the past few years. In the face of rising office expenses and government restrictions, we are unable to provide the services free of charge. Therefore, the payment of the services has become the responsibility of the patient or the agency requesting the service.
There are two ways which you may wish to address these fees. The first option is that you consider paying an annual fee, often referred to as “block fee”, to cover uninsured services for one year. This method appears to be preferred by many of our patients. For those who choose not to accept the annual coverage program, the second option is to pay for individual services at the time the service is provided.
It is not always necessary for you to make an appointment to have a prescription renewed.
If you need repeats, ask your pharmacy to fax a prescription renewal request to 7-10 days before your are due to run out.
It is very important that you don’t wait until the last minute to do this as your doctor requires at least 48-72 hours for all prescription repeats to be sent to your pharmacy.
If you require a prescription within 48 hours, there is a $20 convenience fee to complete this request.
Unable to make your appointment?
Please note, you are required to provide least 24 hours advance notice if you are not able to make your appointment.
You can conveniently do this by using the link above.
The number of requested appointments in family physicians’ offices is at an all time high. Not attending an appointment that you have booked causes significant delay to other patients seeking medical care, financial loss for the clinic, and increases wait times when the appointment is rebooked.
As such, you are responsible for the associated Missed Appointment fee, which must be paid prior to your next visit with your doctor. If there are extenuating circumstances that caused you to miss an appointment, please ask to speak with your physician.
Office Visit: $40
Extended Visit (Physical, Allied health appt): $90
Three (3) unpaid Missed Appointment fees will result in dismissal from the practice.
